Cut For Love is a community engagement initiative aimed at providing an opportunity for HKU students to develop practical haircutting skills and apply them to serve elderly individuals with mobility challenges. Through a series of hands-on training workshops and service sessions, participants will acquire essential haircutting techniques while gaining valuable practical experience. This programme integrates skill development with meaningful community service, fostering a positive impact for both the participants and senior citizens in need.
Target Beneficiaries:
• Around 40 senior citizens living in care homes or public housing
• Priority given to those with limited mobility, financial constraints, or lack of family support
Programme Schedule
Selected participants are required to attend all activities listed below.

Note: Parts A, B, and D will be conducted in English. For Part C, trainers/volunteers of community partner and Serve 2Gather Cantonese-speaking students will support and facilitate communication with the beneficiaries.
Roles and Responsibilities:
🟉 Master Practical Skills: Gain hands-on experience in haircutting techniques to enhance your personal skill set.
🟉 Serve with Care: Provide free, quality haircut services to elderly individuals with mobility challenges, demonstrating care and respect.
🟉 Promote Inclusion and Wellbeing: Help reduce barriers to essential haircut services while fostering dignity, confidence, and social connection among senior citizens.
Personal Qualities Required:
• Willing to contribute time and effort to serve the community.
• Responsible and punctual.
• Empathetic and caring toward elderly individuals.
Quota: 10
Fee: HK$250 (Original training fee: HK$1,500)
Refundable Deposit: HK$500 (refund upon satisfactory completion of the programme and full attendance)

Open to all full-time local and non-local students with priority for undergraduate students.

The mission of Cut For Love Association (香港義剪協會) is to empower individuals by providing accessible hairdressing training that builds both skill and confidence. Through equipping volunteers to deliver quality haircut services to underprivileged communities, the association promotes dignity, self-esteem, and social inclusion.
